In Vietnam, a worker tragically lost his life after being shredded by an industrial machine while attempting to free a stuck tool. Since his passing, shocking footage depicting his final moments has been circulating on social media.
On May 7, just after 6 a.m., 34-year-old Ro Mah J arrived for his shift at the Chanh Tay Gia Lai Joint Stock Company plant in Vietnam, as reported by local outlet DTI News.
Shortly after beginning his work, authorities stated that the man was inside a large container, feeding material into the industrial rubber grinder when his tool unexpectedly got caught in the machine.
Video footage shared online captured the horrifying moment Ro desperately tried to free the tool before the powerful shredder pulled him in – feet first.
Within seconds, his head vanished from view as it was drawn into the shredder along with the rest of his body, while water was seen spraying from the bottom of the container into another pool of liquid.
As he disappeared, a witness’s horrifying screams could be heard, watching the tragic event unfold.
Ro was declared dead at the scene.
Deadly work conditions
According to DTI News, local authorities have initiated an investigation into the accident to ascertain how it occurred and whether any workplace safety violations contributed to the incident.
The disturbing case quickly gained traction online after reports highlighted the graphic footage recorded at the factory.
“Let go of the tool!” one netizen tweeted.
“Tragic, but these videos should be mandatory viewing in every factory owner’s office worldwide. Nothing teaches safety like seeing the alternative,” commented another user, while a third added: “All this to save his shovel.”
Workplace tragedies
This horrifying factory accident is merely the latest in a series of workplace tragedies involving hazardous industrial equipment, as similar deadly incidents continue to emerge globally.
On the same day, May 7, KY3 reported that a 59-year-old man from Missouri was sucked into a grain bin while attempting to fix a jammed auger.
Rescue teams spent over an hour trying to free him from the lethal hold of the grain, which was likened to “quicksand,” but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later.
On that same day, a Malaysian individual lost his life after plummeting nearly 40 feet from a construction site, according to local news reports.
