Melissa Sue Anderson recently turned 61 – hold your heart before you see her now

Have you ever reminisced about an old  TV show that you used to adore and wondered what the actors are doing now that it’s finished? If you were a fan of “Little House on the Prairie” and loved watching the  family’s adventures on their farm in Plum Creek near Walnut Grove, Minnesota, you might be curious about the cast’s current lives.

 

Melissa Sue Anderson, who played the lovely Mary Ingalls, was adored by her fans. They thought she would always be a part of their lives through her character, but she had other ideas.

Nowadays, she shares her wish to move to Canada and leave Hollywood behind. In 2007, Anderson chose to step away from acting after her family became Canadian citizens. She wanted to spend more time with her kids and didn’t want them to feel the pressure to become actors like her.

She talks about her desire to relocate to Canada and leave Hollywood behind today.

This actress began her career with minor roles when she was just starting out, but she really became famous when she took on a key part in “Little House on the Prairie.” Her fans thought she definitely deserved all the nominations for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series because of her amazing performance in that role.

In 2010, Anderson shared her experiences with Pop Entertainment about her role in the drama that brought her fame. She said, “I feel really fortunate to have had a character to portray since the book doesn’t say much about her.” When Laura [Ingalls] wrote the Little House series, which the TV show is based on, she was older and reflecting on her fondest memories. The characters of Ma and Mary didn’t play a huge role in the story. Even though Mary wasn’t featured as much, the spotlight was mainly on Laura, Pa, Jack the dog, and Mr. Edwards. It’s awesome that they recognized my acting skills.

Mary Ingalls had a few different jobs before she married TV producer Michael Sloan in 1990. Then, in 2002, they moved to Montreal with their two kids, Griffin and Piper.

Anderson made the choice to step away from the entertainment world in 2007 when her family became Canadian citizens. She wanted to spend more time with her children and didn’t want them to feel like they had to become performers like her.

Family

Anderson said in an interview with E-Talk, “I took a long break.” He shared that the main reason was for his kids, so they could grow and find their own identities instead of always being with him.

Anderson is still acting a bit; in the past few years, she has taken on some minor roles. Being on shows like “Little House on the Prairie” had a big impact on her, and it inspired her to write a memoir titled The Way I See It: A Look Back at My Life on Little House.
